I've been embroidering for years and running my home business for 3 months. Never had a problem with my Janome but put it in for a general service last year. When it came back, the bobbin thread keeps on showing on the top, its never done that before, the store said it was the thread tension and try turning it down, I had to turn it all the way to "0" and that stopped it on filled areas but now I get looping on satins and run stitches. Bought a Brother last year and have been using it nearly every day for 3 months, and a week ago it starts doing the same thing. Tried everything, adjusting thread tenson, new needle, new bobbin, adjusting tension on bobbin case. Put it in to be serviced, got it back last night, did a few designs, all ok... now its started again. So now both my machines are not working as they should and its giving me the s***ts as its stopped my business. Using Janome bobbinfill, hemmingworth thread, sewing only on calico, with cut away stabliser. Oh, tried adjusting tension on Janome bobbin case, and that fixed it for a bit, but now its doing it again. AAARRRGH.
Any body have any ideas?

Am more familiar with the digitizing end of things, but could it be lint/thread fibers building up in the bobbin case at the point where the the case puts tension on the bobbin thread?

thanks for your reply, the man I took the Brother to, did mention this, but as its a new machine didnt think it was likely, and he checked it and didnt find any lint build up, I thought it was unlikely to be this as it was running fine the one night after the service, S**t the next morning, but checked it anyway, by running a piece of cardboard through the bobbin case and it made no difference. As for the Janome, I checked it for lint in the spring but made no difference. Woman at the sewing shop thinks I should use Brother thread with the Brother as its THINNER, service man thinks I should use THICKER thread to get more "grab" make the thread stay on the bottom of the sewing. I'm starting to think I should just get out the hammer and hammer both machines to bits... so frustrated

I've had this happen once, when I was stitching on a Janome. But in my case it turned out to be nothing wrong with the machine, just my own mistake.
When I was threading the machine, I pushed that lever that lets the thread through, but got sidetracked and forgot to pull it back after I was done threading. Now THAT caused the bobbin to show up horribly!

You checked everything I would have checked. I would have just loosened up the tension to let more thread through the top and tightened the bobbin thread to pull more of the top thread down and to keep the bobbin underneath. Changing the needle and checking for lint usually helps. Then of course I'd put in a new bobbin (sometimes I find that doing this first helps because even though I may have put in a new bobbin, it could be defective). Check for silly fixes such as just changing the bobbin and re-checking to make sure everything is threaded correctly. If all else fails, maybe try doing some lubrication on needle bars and the rotary hook. Good Luck! :-)
